5-Day Northern Serengeti Migration Fly-In Safari
Your Safari Experience
This 5-day safari takes you from the northern Serengeti to Tanzania’s top wildlife destinations. Each day brings a new highlight, from Mara River crossings to the Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire’s elephants, making the trip memorable and relaxed.
Safari Highlight
Day 1 - Arusha - Northern Serengeti (Kogatende)
Your safari begins with a short transfer from Arusha to the airstrip, then a scenic flight into the northern Serengeti. During the flight, you can see vast plains, winding rivers, and sometimes wildlife below.
When you arrive in Kogatende, your guide will meet you and take you on your first game drive. This region is known for the migration, where thousands of wildebeest and zebra look for fresh grass, often followed by lions, hyenas, and other predators.
By late afternoon, you arrive at your camp. Settle in, enjoy a warm meal, and listen to the sounds of the wild as night falls.
Day 2 - Full Day in Northern Serengeti (Migration Experience)
Wake up in the heart of the migration. Today is flexible and focused on following the herds. Your guide will track their movements and help you get the best views.
If you’re lucky, you might witness a Mara River crossing. Herds gather at the riverbank, tension rises, and then they suddenly rush into the water. Crocodiles wait below and strong currents test them. It’s unpredictable, intense, and unforgettable.
Besides the river crossings, this area offers peaceful game viewing with fewer vehicles. You can expect to see elephants, giraffes, big cats, and wide untouched landscapes.
Return to camp in the evening for dinner and another night under the Serengeti sky.
Day 3 - Northern Serengeti → Central Serengeti (Seronera)
After breakfast, you head south. This is more than a transfer, it’s a full game drive through the Serengeti. The scenery shifts from northern hills to the open plains of Seronera.
Wildlife appears all along the way. You’ll likely see herds, predators, and surprises that make the journey rewarding.
The Central Serengeti is known for its year-round wildlife and many predators. Lions rest on rocky kopjes, leopards hide in acacia trees, and cheetahs move across the plains.
You arrive at your camp in the afternoon, right in the heart of one of the park’s busiest wildlife areas.
Day 4 — Serengeti → Ngorongoro Crater → Karatu
Begin your day early with a morning game drive through the Serengeti.
Afterward, travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the crater for a half-day game drive. This natural caldera is one of Africa’s most unique wildlife habitats, home to many animals, including lions, elephants, buffalo, and the rare black rhino.
The crater’s landscape offers excellent game viewing, with wildlife gathering in grasslands, wetlands, and forest patches.
In the afternoon, you’ll leave the crater and drive to Karatu, where you spend the night.
Day 5 - Karatu → Tarangire National Park → Arusha
After breakfast, you travel to Tarangire National Park, a hidden gem known for its giant baobab trees and large elephant herds.
The Tarangire River attracts wildlife all year. You can see elephants up close, along with giraffes, zebras, and many types of antelope.
Enjoy a relaxed game drive and picnic lunch in the park, then return to Arusha in the late afternoon.
